Fire is one of those things that can flat out decimate almost anything. Fortunately most places have people that fight fire for a living. Entering blazing infernos to rescue incapacitated individuals is their calling. The Maltese Cross is commonly their symbol and it derives from the Knights of Malta that were well known for their ability to care for people and extinguishing fires.
