Tyet Knot

Tattoo Design by Ray Reasoner Jr
$4.00
The Goddess Isis was associated with healing and many other things throughout the years. The Tyet, sometimes referred to as the knot of Isis, is thought to be a strip of cloth meant to soak up menstrual blood. To me it more resembles an abstract representation of the womb, ovaries, and the birth canal. This makes more sense to me since it is said to have meant life or welfare and was commonly worn by Egyptian women. I find it very unlikely that they would have worn the symbol of a tampon around their necks and much more likely that they would have been celebrating their life creating ability.
